Conversion and reconstruction of a derelict town centre building into a mezzanine bar. The existing building gave architectural character to the street through its formal, solid facade but much of the interior was in a neglected condition. We demolished large sections of the builidng to make for a new bar split over three levels concealed behind the reconditioned exterior walls. The material palette is intentionally raw and powerful, with exposed steel and brick responding to the demolition works and providing dialogue with the formal facade. |
